Status of Guyana Youth for Future Technology (GYFT)

Recap of 2007

Guyana Youth for Future Technology continued to build its operational and organizational capacity in 2007. The application by the organization in 2007 to the IRS for tax-exempt status was successful. GYFT also developed a conflict of interest policy that is pending adoption by the Board. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the fundraising project, though limited in scope, yielded positive results as they and members of the public responded positively to the special fundraising drive. We wish to express our deepest appreciation to all those persons who contributed so generously to our fund raising effort. The contributions helped with the creation and maintenance of the web site for the GTU and a gift of a printer and paper to that organization in Guyana. As more of its leading members shed their student status in 2007, the organization also started work on a strategy to build its program of assistance and to refine the projects to be pursued under that program. Towards this end, GYFT is awaiting information and proposals from the GTU on the proposed project activities.
